Senior Airport Operations Agent - Colorado Springs Airport
The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome a Senior Airport Operations Agent to the Colorado Springs Airport! As a Senior Airport Operations Agent, you will conduct safety and security inspections of the Airport (Colorado Springs Airport), including runway and taxiway surface conditions and lighting, refueling equipment, and fuel storage areas. You will also ensure compliance with CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 14 Part 139 and TSA (Transportation Security Administration) 1542.

Job Type: Full-time. non-exempt
Hourly Salary: $28.54 - $34.27
Work Schedule: (4) 10-hour work weeks. Either Wednesday - Saturday or Sunday - Wednesday. Shift times are 5AM - 3PM or 12PM - 10PM depending on crew assignment after hire. This position requires that you are available for emergency and after hour callouts. Additional availability for on-call for snow removal.

Pre-Employment Requirements: The selected candidate must pass (or have already passed) a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration.


As a Senior Airport Operations Agent for the Colorado Springs Airport, you will:
  • Ensure smooth and safe airport operations by coordinating with various departments, enforcing regulations, and managing personnel and equipment
  • Coordinate aircraft parking and gate usage
  • Coordinate airport emergency operations with tenants, FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), TSA, military, and aircraft rescue and firefighting personnel
  • Implement NIMS/ICS (National Incident Management System/Incident Command System) during all emergencies in an incident command role
  • Responding to inquiries from the public, airport tenants, airlines, and regulatory agencies
  • Evaluate airfield conditions during inclement weather
  • Coordinate winter weather operations; issue Notices To Airmen (NOTAMs); and track changes in airport operational status
  • Notify the Airport's maintenance sections of priority ground and terminal maintenance and repair requirements
  • Receive and respond to concerns of the traveling public on matters relating to parking, traffic congestion, ground transportation, and terminal conditions
  • Coordinate the investigation/response to security violations in accordance with the Airport's security plan
  • Participate in the development and revision of the airport security and operations procedures for the Airport

  • Obtain and maintain airfield driving movement & non-movement privileges

Minimum Qualifications

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
  • Three years of full-time airport operations, airport management, or related experience
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire and maintain, a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess or willing to obtain AAAE Ace Security Certification within in 12-months of hire
  • Possess or willing to obtain FEMA ICS (Incident Command System) courses to include IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 certifications with in 12-months of hire
