The Division of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) invites applications
for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of
Agricultural Education and Leadership. This is a nine-month
tenure-track appointment to support teaching and research in the
Division's agricultural education and leadership program. Based on
qualifications, a candidate appointed at the Associate professor
rank will be eligible for tenure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting
research and teaching courses in the area of agricultural
leadership. Research should focus on the linkages among teaching,
learning, and leadership. This could include teacher retention,
effective teaching strategies, youth/student motivation, evaluation
of programs, and emergent opportunities in sustainability
leadership/education. Faculty are expected to engage in grant work,
particularly collaborative efforts with other faculty within
Division and College with an emphasis on USDA-NIFA, Higher Ed
Challenge Grants, and potentially NSF. Teaching expectations
include courses on leadership, leadership theory, and application.
Courses may be delivered via traditional classroom and/or online
format. Other teaching, undergraduate student organization
advising, advising of students, and/or service responsibilities may
be assigned in place of the above should our needs change.

We are interested in candidates whose professional background,
research, and/or teaching interests complement DASSs existing
strengths in agricultural education and communication and
agricultural policy analysis. DASS is home to several research and
outreach centers, including the Food and Agricultural Policy
Research Institute (FAPRI), the Rural and Farm Finance Policy
Analysis Center (RaFF), the Graduate Institute of Cooperative
Leadership (GICL), the Financial Research Institute (FRI), the
McQuinn Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and the
Interdisciplinary Center for Food Security. DASS has a strong
tradition of granting faculty extraordinary latitude to develop new
and innovative centers, programs, and activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in agricultural leadership,
agricultural education (broadly defined), or a related social
sciences discipline by time of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on: Impact of research focusing
on areas noted above, including publications in peer reviewed
journals and evidence of ability to obtain external funding for
research. Effectiveness of teaching. Success in working with
undergraduate and graduate students in a learning and mentoring
environment. Interpersonal skills and the ability to lead within an
academic environment. Willingness to adapt as change arises.
